当地时间6月11日，韩国国防部长官李钟燮在香格里拉对话会上同美国国防部长奥斯汀、日本防卫大臣岸信夫举行会谈，共商应对朝鲜核导风险的合作方案。

据韩联社报道，李钟燮表示，三国防长就应对朝鲜核导风险的韩美日安全合作的重要性达成了共识。三方确定了相互合作的意愿，并就韩美日军事演习进行了大体上的讨论。除此之外，三国防长还就导弹预警演习、弹道导弹追踪监视演习等细节进行了具体交流。

报道称，韩美日三国每季度实施导弹预警演习，但自2018年起，考虑到韩朝美之间的“破冰”氛围，演习不再对外公开。据悉，三国防长可能就加强导弹预警演习等既有演习的力度，对朝鲜释放警告信息的方案进行了探讨。

对于汇集三国战斗力实施三国联合演习的方案，李钟燮仅表示，韩美联演与韩美日联演不同，应从不同的角度予以对待。

此次会谈是韩美日防长自2019年11月东盟防长扩大会议（ADMM Plus）以来首次会晤。
